The High Definition 40dB Fixed Gain Amplifier (HDNBFG40B) is a 1-Port, very high gain, high compression point amplifier that adds significant signal strength to systems with large losses. This amplifier is commonly used in large commercial satellite TV installations where much of the signal strength can be lost through long cable runs or by passing through various taps, splitters, and multi-switches. The 40dB amplification feature eliminates the need for many smaller and more numerous in-line amplifier devices while the internal DC blocking capacitors on all input and output ports eliminate the need for any external capacitors. These design features result in both lower cost and a less complicated commercial installation by eliminating unnecessary parts and equipment. HDTV Labs products are all designed for easy installation. Mounting brackets make it easy to secure the devices to walls or flat surfaces. Although meant for indoor use, the device is built with a Professional-Grade rugged aluminum housing and corrosion resistant connectors to extend the life of the product. A 12VDC external power supply is included with the amplifier. One of the more important features of the amplifier is its wide input level range of -30dBm to -75dBm. With the capability to still recover the desired signal when large variations in cable length and device losses exist, the installation becomes easier to design and more flexible to implement. The ability to detect very weak input signals is an obvious advantage to the commercial installation as it allows more cabling in the system before signal loss becomes an issue. Another advantage of having a high gain amplifier is that in eliminating the need for many individual in-line amplifiers, overall system performance will improve by reducing the amount of noise that extra amplifiers would add to the system. At the other end of the dynamic range, the amplifier’s high compression -30dBm input level allows it to be connected to lines with strong signals with a reduced risk of being over-driven. If poor C/N ratio is seen at the output of the amplifier, it is being over-driven and the installer must reduce the input power for it to work correctly. Proper output signal should be checked with a meter to prevent over-driving the amplifier. The HDNBFG40B amplifier has a built-in gain/slope network. As system channel frequencies increase, so do the losses associated with that channel. The gain/slope circuitry essentially keeps the output signal at a constant level across all frequencies by applying more gain at the higher frequency channels and less gain at the lower frequency channels. Installation cost and complexity are reduced in systems using the HDNBFG40B Fixed Gain Amplifier, saving both time and money. All HDTV Labs products are designed and manufactured in the USA. |
